Dunne Deal!

Exciting News: Brendan Dunne Appointed Senior Coach of Old Peninsula Football Club!

The Pirate family is thrilled to announce that Brendan Dunne has been appointed as the new Senior Coach of the Old Peninsula Football Club for the 2025 season. With an impressive coaching resume and a deep connection to the local football community, Brendan is ready to lead our club into a bright future.

A Proven Track Record

Brendan brings with him a wealth of experience, particularly within the MPNFL. As a former captain and coach of Hastings Football Club, he led them to a 2016 Premiership and has guided Karingal Football Club to two grand finals in 2011 and 2019. Most recently, Brendan served as the caretaker coach at Hastings in 2024 and has twice been named MPNFL Coach of the Year—a testament to his leadership and football knowledge. In addition, Brendan spent the last four years coaching the Mt Eliza Juniors, where he built strong foundations for future talent.

A Familiar Face to the Peninsula

Brendan is no stranger to the Peninsula. A Peninsula Grammar alumnus, he captained the First XVIII in 2004 and played senior football for the Pirates in 2003-2004. He also spent four years at Frankston VFL, gaining invaluable experience at a higher level of football.

Brendan’s Vision for the Pirates

“I’m thrilled to coach the Pirates,” said Brendan. “The committee’s vision and passion are impressive, and I see great potential here. Our goal is to create a strong culture that connects players, supporters, and volunteers. I’m eager to link the past with the present and see everyone engage fully in this journey.”

Strong Coaching Team in Place

Brendan will be joined by Phil Stone as his assistant coach. Phil has been a key part of Brendan’s coaching journey, and their partnership promises to be a strong one for the club. Additionally, Steven Kidd, who served as the caretaker coach for the second half of the 2024 season, will continue on as an assistant coach for 2025. We’re incredibly grateful for Steven’s ongoing support and are excited to have him contribute to the team’s success moving forward.

Meet and Greet Coming Soon

To welcome Brendan, Phil, and the new coaching team, the committee will be organising a meet-and-greet event for players and supporters in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for details, as we look forward to introducing you all to our new leadership team and sharing our plans for an exciting 2025 season.

We couldn’t be more excited about what’s to come under Brendan’s leadership. Let’s get behind the Pirates and make this season one to remember!
